Holiday Time is Kid Focus Time
January 7th, 2008 by Ira RubienIt is a rare occasion when our family of 5 (3 kids) get to spend focused time together. The holidays were a nice time to reconnect and play together. We tried to focus on a select grouping of gifts for the kids since there seems to be too much excess with gifting and no appreciation of the actual gifts themselves. There were 2 iPod shuffles and a lot of Pokemon cards distributed. All were happy. I was resisting the music players but frankly kids are getting more and more electronics at younger ages. I resisted but I do like the fact that they enjoy listening to music.

The best part of the break was doing activities together and focusing on each other. Our celebrations were over since Hanukah was earlier in December, so what were we to do on Christmas Day? Well we packed up and went to the the aquarium! My kids enjoyed the animals so much and it’s great to watch their interactions. Especially as my son was conversing with the hippo through the glass observation tank. I think he felt bonded with Mr. Hippo after that……These moments are sweet.
