Melissa Landis
Position at Graco: Training (Organizational Effectiveness) Manager
How long at Graco: 3+ years
Latest “wondrous” moment: Lovey (22 months) has just discovered the “wonderment” of a flashlight. We turn off all the lights and she whizzes the beam of light all over the living room walls and ceiling, laughing and asking “where did it go?”
My child’s most memorable first: Gosh…how can I pick just one! There are so many “firsts”…the first time Lovey looked at me with recognition…the first time she crawled toward me…the first time she picked up her own spoon…her first word (wow)…the first time she said “mommy”…the first time she hurt herself and ran to my arms for comfort…the first time she took my hand and let me to the couch to snuggle…each and every one is a distinct memory in itself-I just don’t know how to choose.
If I had my 15 minutes of fame it would be because: I wrote a book entitled “What to Expect the Second Time Around…a compilation of wisdom and advice for how to manage having a second baby when you still have a toddler hanging on your leg”
If someone dumped out my purse they would find: Aside from the expected items (wallet, keys, lip balm, sunglasses, cell phone) they would find: several individually wrapped handi-wipes, a couple of thumb-drives (because you never know when you will need to share photos), an emory board, a small mirror, an eyeglasses repair kit, retractable tape measure (really, it’s very small), a couple of bills, notepad, several pens, snack bag with crayons, a disposable place mat, several teeney hair scrunchies (they collect in my purse as Lovey pulls them out when we are away from the house), spare diaper, emergency sippy cup, goldfish crackers (not necessarily in a baggie), Glee gum (all natural, no preservatives…actually still uses “chickle” and cane sugar as the main ingredients), a fabric sample that I really need to get around to matching up some day…
The first thing I think of when I wake up is: Oh my…was that the alarm already?
