As you know, I am one of the supervisors in Graco’s customer service department. Part of my role here (besides talking about my many adventures with Slick) will be to provide helpful information.
So this is my first post addressing one of the most common questions in customer service. Believe it or not, it has to do with “fashion.” More specifically, parents looking for a new car seat cover. Sure, a parent might be looking for a new cover to replace one that has been soiled, but it is more common to hear from moms looking for a fresh new look for the next baby. It might be an opportunity to convert the previously gender-neutral seat into one fit for a princess or to ensure a soon-to-be-here son isn’t brought home from the hospital in a pink and flowery seat that belonged to an older sister.
We are more than happy to help consumers with this request. It can get a little tricky because not all seat pads will fit on every Graco seat. If you contact us with your model number and serial number, we’ll be more than happy to see what options are available for your particular seat.

I am writing to say that I have been quite underwhelmed by the Customer Service provided by Graco.
After reading this blog, I did not want to continue the trend of ignoring your instructions by posting my Snugride Model Number and not contacting Customer Service instead (using the contact information you provided) to procure a replacement pad for my infant car seat.
I sent a very detailed message using the Contact Us link you provided (http://www.gracobaby.com/customerservice/contact_us_email.aspx) and received the following short email in return:

That’s it? None of the details I requested were included, no models, no details, no hours of operations, not even a name or signature? Clearly this Customer Service personnel spent no more than 30 seconds responding to my queries.
When I called the phone number, I sat on hold for 15 minutes and then got an answering machine.
Clearly, Graco’s commitment to Customer Service is limited, if it exists at all. Which is sad, because there is a large market for these replacement pads and loyal customers deserve to be treated better that this.

I have a question about she Safe Seat 1 cover. My baby absolutely stinks when he sweats in the car seat. I have resolved to put a blanket between him and the seat (which I know is not ideal safety wise) to keep people from smelling him. The name of the cover is Ionic. Is there anything I can do about it? I have tried washing the cover twice, but I has not made any difference in the way he (and the cover) smell.

I’d be happy to double check for you. Please let me know your model number and serial number from the stroller.
There are several factors that determine whether other fashions will work on a stroller. Among the Metrolites, there are different style seat assemblies based on the type of seat recline. Also, over the years, there have been modifications to the Metrolite frame which makes it impossible to replace anything except the original pattern.
Please let me know your model number and serial number. I will double check for you.

I was wondering how far back the carseat cover replacements go? I have a car seat that I used for my son who is now 4. How long do the carseats last? This particular Model is pink and worked great for our daughter, but we are now having a boy in a couple of months and I need a boy color (blue/black/tan/gray–not picky, just a boy color).
Hopefully things are going better with customer service these days. I read a lot of comments from frustrated moms and dad, and hope to avoid a similar experience.

Hi there! First I want to say thank you so much for this blog!!! I’ve been desperately trying to figure out my plan for a carseat for the baby I’m currently due with (June 09).
I have sent a message off to customer service as well, but thought I’d give commenting here a try too.
Ideally, what I’d like to purchase would be a cover in the “g galore” pattern (to match my new double stroller). I’m frustrated that I am unable to buy just a carseat in this pattern, and would gladly entertain buying just the cover and purchasing a seat it would be compatible with separately.
If that does not work out, my 2nd option is to find out what options are available for my daughter’s snugride that I currently own. The model number is 7260MRA2.

You know I’d really love to see a Nautilus cover with a “boy” color scheme like red & black or blue & black. I see some new pink covers for girls, and just the plain gray combinations leftover for the lil guys. I am hoping once I have to buy a Nautilus for my son that there are more options available. (I already have a Mariposa for my daughter)
I am trying to decide between a Graco Nautilus and a Britax Frontier. My son loves the Nautilus car seat but he also loves the red & black Britax Frontier. I pretty much like everything about the Nautilus except the color schemes of the seat covers. It may sound silly but on the other hand from what I’ve seen it’s pretty silly that Graco has chosen to produce 3 pink and 4 gray car seat covers for the Nautilus. What about having 2 gray and 2 pink and expand the selection to include possibilities such as taupe and black, red and black (Britax can’t keep that one in stock in the Frontier), royal blue and black, or even orange and black (like the very popular MacLaren or Combi strollers). The gray Graco Nautilus car seat looks like a battleship on my taupe seat with the taupe and black interior of my minivan. Most little boys would prefer any color over gray except pink. We love our red & black and royal blue & black Graco Turbo Boosters! What happened? And if new colors are introduced please sell them also as replacement covers so if I decide on the Nautilus I can get rid of this gray car seat cover.

I have the Safe Seat in Ionic. It has virtually ZERO padding in the seat area and seems very uncomfortable for our little guy. On the other hand, I was surprised to feel that my friend’s new SnugRide 32 in Lemongrass is loaded with padding. Would it be possible to replace my seat cover with one of the more cushiony versions? Recently I purchased a graco nautilus 3 in 1. After a month my daughter became violently ill and forced me to have to wash the padding. I purchased the Graco Snugride Metropolitan car seat in early 2007, Model No. 8649MTR3. Now that our 2nd baby is on the way, I decided I should wash the car seat cover, even though it was very clean. We hardly used it for our first baby because she was 3.5 months early and once she finally came home from the NICU we had to keep her out of public, except for her doctor visits. I was taking the car seat cover off the base and I noticed a strange chemical smell… kind of like a fire retardent odor. I proceeded to wash it and now it has a horrible toxic peppery odor that has permeated my home. I have since tried washing it 7 times to get rid of the smell and no such luck. I researched car seat covers online and I found that many car seat covers are toxic. Can you please give me more information on why my car seat cover smells like this? And where can I get a new cover that will fit and is guaranteed not to be toxic?

My Graco Snugride infant carseat has a Warning label on the inside of the cover and the label itself is flaking off onto my baby’s head!! I searched for a recall but did not find one. I’m frustrated because he’s already 3 1/2 months and I only will need it for another 2 months or so (if his sisters are any indication – they were both out of the seat at 5 months). Hi. I have 8j00glx for my son that I purchased at the end of February of this year. I read the instruction booklet and it said it was okay to wash the cover on delicate in the machine. I did this and now the seat cover is full of snags and holes. I just cannot believe this since it said right in the booklet and on the cover that it was okay to do so. I have a britax and I have washed the seat cover many many times and it still looks brand new. I was/am sick to my stomach because we trusted the graco name and this is what happens.

How do you get the canopy cover off the bars to wash it?I just bought a used baby car seat by Graco and it doesn’t look like the poles come out of the canopy top.I got the canopy itself off the carseat.I just want to wash the fabric canopy.

I was wondering if you also sold replacement stroller covers for the snugride along with car seat covers. I noticed little patches of black spots which I’m thinking is mildew so I wanted to see if I could get away with replacing all the fabric on my travel system. I also noticed that my car seat has an expiration date of December 2009 but it was only used for one pregnancy in 2004 and has been in storage since. What would you suggest? Expiration, mildew… should I just buy a whole new travel system?

Hello. I have called and also looked online under “replacement parts”
I first want to thank you for placing the replacement parts on the home page and making it easy to find. I was able to put in my “basket” a fabric kit replacement for my Graco SnugRide.
BUT – I didn’t need to purchase the entire fabric kit (I had stored some items and they got mold on them when our basement flooded) and was a little overwhelmed by the over $60 price tag (with shipping) I could purchase an entirely new car seat for $100. I decided to call to see if I could just purchase the boot, head support, and harness covers.
I could not get the design in the Lotus anymore, nor could I get the parts in black, red, or silver to match. I was told that if I had ordered online a different design would have been substituted…yet this was NOT dilvulged online at all.
Imagine the shock I would have recieved if I had ordered and not gotten the design I was expecting…I would have been a little more than upset. I have a stroller that is red and black and was looking specifically for this design or something that matched.
Please fix this problem online so that someone isn’t surprised and upset at Graco, I love my car seat and in fact this is our 2nd one. I would hate for you to lose a customer over a simple oversight.
I would still love to be able to purchase replacement parts for my car seat in either red, black or silver. If you can help:

I would really to have the matching infant seat, but it appears you have discontinued the pattern. I have a graco snugride serial # JJ1205031232 model 7411KBK and it was purchased in 2005 and used for one child. We are currently using it for our second child but it says it expires in Dec 2009. Seems everyone here is looking for a replacement cover for one model or another. We have a slightly different problem. My daughter recently had a baby girl. We picked up a snug ride travel system at a garage sale. The covers were for a boy, so we decided to just take them apart and make new ones for a girl. Great idea. The car seat turned out wonderful. Now I’m working on the stroller. Here’s the problem, I was working on the canopy last night and was attempting to put it back onto the stroller, when the bar that goes through the back of the canopy snapped. It appears that the place where the bar is screwed into the arm on the stroller broke. We need to see if it’s possible to get a replacement part. Can anyone help? I am debating the difference btwn the Graco My Ride 65 and the Nautilis (think thats how you spell it?) my daughter is 16 months old and I like the rear-facing option more, but am worried that the seat sits back too far as that is a constant battle with her Snug-ride she is in currently. Also I worry that she will not like having her feet smooshed up like some of the pictures of other rear-facing toddlers I have seen in this carseat. She weighs 27lbs and we need to get her a new seat soon. Also it mentioned that the Nautilis is rec for children over 2yrs old, though I like the idea of not having to buy another seat ever with the booster option since my husband and I are on a tight budget. Hello I would like to know why my post was deleted, I sent an e-mail over a month ago and got no response so I posted on here about two weeks ago, I check back a few days later and saw my post had worked and was posted. I was trying to find out what boy fabrics you have for the travel system i bought, and how much they cost. I bought mine brand new in 2008 and used it for my first son. only to accidently leave the whole travel system outside one day when we had a really bad storm. Hi Katrina, The model number is located on a white sticker on the side frame that connects the front wheel and rear wheel. It is on the inside of the left frame (when you are standing behind the stroller). You may need to move the basket aside to see the sticker.

I love the double stoller, especially the way it folds together, and the slim design!! It fits perfectly in our vehicle. My older daughter loves the fact that she has a comfy seat to sit in the front. I have several moms tell me they are jealous of my double stroller and state that my daughter looks like a princess on her comfy seat. I have the Betsey Travel Lite pack and play and found out it is missing two canopy pieces. The canopy had three pieces, two “arms” that connect to the side and one middle piece. I could only find one “arm” piece in the box! Can you tell me how much this is going to cost for replacements?

I am looking for the seat fabric replacement for my stroller travel system. My carseat is still in great shape but my stroller was left in the rain in florida once or twice and we have horrible humidity and moisture and it got mold on it within a couple of hours of not eing opened to air out.
