And it’s 1 – 2 – 3 strikes your out at the old ball game!!! That’s pretty much how it went ladies and gentlemen. The Phillies beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in game 5 of the 2008 World Series! Closing pitcher Brad Ligde pitched the final three outs in the 9th inning bringing the Phils to become our 2008 World Champions!
Lidge certainly came through for us in the 9th inning, however, we cannot forget about World Series MVP, Cole Hamels who started pitching game 5, before the unforgettable rain delay. The delay in game 5 of this series will go down in World Series history as it left us on the edge of our seats for 46 hours. The game finally resumed in the 6th inning tied at 2. Thankfully, it all ended just as Philly fans hoped!
The city joined together last night to celebrate a victory much deserved. Phillies ball players thanked their teammates and dedicated fans, without which this big win wouldn’t have been possible. The positive energy, passion and camaraderie that Philadelphia fans conveyed as they cheered to support their home team is what the City of Brotherly Love is all about…
*Note: Not to worry, we are not becoming a sports blog! Since Graco is located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, we just had to share our excitement about this amazing victory! Back to parenting, babies and fun pictures tomorrow!*
