Halloween is not something the folks here at Graco take lightly (I think you are starting to see a pattern here)! When I started here, I was stunned to find out about all the festivities, decorating and hoopla (and non-productivity) that goes into October 31st in this building. Entire departments are turned into completely different places - we’ve had a skeleton graveyard, Santa’s Workshop, Candy Land, Outer Space, Gilligan’s Island, a football game tailgate party, haunted woods and a number of scenes right out of some of the most whimsical movies ever like Pirates of the Caribbean and Wizard of Oz.
Children from a local daycare come through the building in the afternoon to trick or treat. I always sign up to be a “Goblin Guide” which means I get to escort the kids around the building. It’s a wonderful day to be at work! All the employees are invited to bring their little ones to join in all of the fun as well. It’s absolutely hysterical walking through the building and seeing little pumpkins, ghosts, witches, princesses, cowboys and animals of all kinds, prancing around! The halls at Graco are filled with happy kids and the cubicals are filled with candy, fake spider webs and extremely clever & original decor. It doesn’t get any better than this, as far as Halloween is goes!
The best part about this much awaited day at Graco is the participation and excitement from Graco employees – its really entertaining to see your co-workers dressed up in costume and acting silly (because we are just so serious the other 364 days of the year)!!
All of the hard work and creativity that is put into the Halloween celebration at Graco does not go unrecognized. Everyone that participates in dressing up for Halloween and/or transitioning their departments into an imaginary land, gets voted on. Prizes are awarded to Best Overall Costume (group or individual), Best Individual Costume and Best Group Costume. The overall winning department also wins the very [extremely is more like it] coveted Halloween Spirit Award Trophy which they proudly display until the next years’ contest!!!
This witch is off to eat lunch so I have the energy for all the excitement that will be going on in just an hour! Tune in for next week’s Wondrous Wednesday when I’ll be sharing some of the best pictures from today!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!
