The Pregnant Night Owl (How I miss my sleep!!)

the_night_owl The Pregnant Night Owl (How I miss my sleep!!)As a pregnant woman, I frequently get asked the question, “how are you feeling?” I usually respond with “I feel great!” Having my first pregnancy to compare it to, I reallydo feel great. I am not any more tired than I was when I was pregnant with PP. I had some complications with my first pregnancy (potential placenta previa, low amniotic fluid, poor fetal growth), but this time around (knock on wood), no complications to report.

Except for one. Sleeping problems! When I was pregnant with PP, I faced the nighttime issue of getting up in the middle of the night, but that didn’t start until 3rd trimester. This time around, I am up almost every night around 3:00am & cannot get back to sleep for at least an hour. It also doesn’t help that PP usually runs into our room at that time which causes me to wake up & stay up after that. When pregnant with PP, I used to hit the sack around 9:00 & stay asleep all night. I am now not the only Night Owl in the house. With the time change, PP doesn’t wind down (even though we do have a night time ritual) until 9:30/10:00. So, I am getting to sleep later & waking up in the middle of the night.

In four months, this is obviously not going to get any better with the birth of “Ruby”, but at least I will have a beautiful little newborn to greet me in the middle of the night & keep me company!

Oh my gosh me too!! This is my third pregnancy, and it’s been the hardest on my body so far. The getting up for the bathroom started early and hasn’t stopped!!! Then the aches and pains…hips, back, etc. I swear I don’t even know what good sleep is anymore!!!!

We should tweet up, I’m up around 3 each morning lately too, between the bathroom trips and my hips getting sore, the sleep is not working out so well!
