A Peek Inside Ruby’s World–My 3D/4D Ultrasound Experience
Posted by Melissa Parlaman in May 22nd 2009
When I was pregnant with PP, my whole world was my pregnancy. Everyone warned me that with #2, you just don’t have the time to concentrate & reflect on the pregnancy. I vowed that would NOT be the case when I got pregnant with my second child. Well…it happened. So, when I realized it, I thought the 3D/4D ultrasound would be an awesome way to capture the moment.
I had heard & seen advertisements for 3D/4D ultrasounds and I always thought that it would be neat to do, but frankly I wasn’t sure if it was worth the price. I wanted to do something special to document my pregnancy with “Ruby” since I have been so caught up with selling my house, buying another, moving, and keeping up with PP. I feel like I have forgotten to take some time out to focus on this pregnancy.
I have to say, I loved every second of it. It made my husband & I take an hour out of our day to relax & look into the world of “ruby.” I saw her sleeping, moving, kicking, and even (this is a little gross) lick the umbilical cord. I never knew babies did that in the womb! Everything was captured in a DVD that I shared with my family & also got a CD with 84 images of it.
I am so glad that I did the 3D/4D experience since it was well worth it–taking a glimpse into what my Ruby is doing was worth every penny!

I did one when my DH was deployed during almost all of the first pregnancy (found out I was pregnant two days after he left and he got home on leave two days after she was born). Second child didn’t get 3D/4D but got to have Daddy there for the pregnancy and birth!
That’s so great that you chose to have this experience–I agree it is wonderful. Enjoy!
I tell you, this is the most memorable and very touching experience when you are about to see your baby in the Ultrasound. Very very heaven.
