Pregnancy update – It’s almost time!

baby-bump1It’s hard to believe I’m down to my last 7 weeks with this pregnancy. It has gone by quickly. People ask me if I’m ready. I think I am. I tell people I am. But, really the answer is no. By this point in my pregnancy with Slick, his nursery was finished, the baby clothes were washed and all the baby stuff was organized. We had a name picked… and a back up name just in case we changed our minds. I even had all my Christmas shopping done before Slick’s arrival in early November.

This time around, I’m back to my usual procrastinating self. (Kelly has been asking for an update, so she’s probably nodding as she reads the word “procrastinate”.) I know I should be getting things in order or at the very least, started. I did buy new crib bedding. We just need to paint the room, put the crib back together, decorate for a GIRL, buy some girly clothes and make a decision about her real name. Slick has already named her Cookie. So, for blog purposes, her name is Cookie. A blog name – that’s one thing I can cross off the To Do list.

Surely I can’t be the only second-time-around (or third, fourth…) Mom with such a laid back attitude. I’d love to hear that I’m not the only one!

I definitely was super easy going with my second. In fact, our midwives actually called my husband and I “the laid-back couple.” :)

I think the second time around mothers to be often know what to expect and are quite calm unless there are extenuating circumstances. What you are feeling is perfectly natural and probably felt by the majority of second time mothers. All I really have to say is enjoy and savor the experience without all the anxiety.

Whew! Glad to hear it’s not just me :) I can’t guarantee Cookie’s nursery will be 100% completed by the time she arrives. But, I finally bought some girl clothes this week. At least she won’t be coming home in a little boy outfit. Oh, I started my Christmas shopping, too. I’m on a roll!

You’re used to really just be able to cater to your first child’s needs, but now you have a second child who needs you just as much… Each child has to learn to wait for your attention. :)
