Holiday Travel Tips and Graco Get One Give One #2!

Thanks to Kelley Maxfield, Associate Channel Manager at Graco for this guest post on holiday travel tips!

Happy Holidays! Most important – we at Graco want to help you with maintaining the “Happy!” It’s that time of year again where people are doing a lot of travel, and traveling with Baby?? Even the most experienced travelers could use some helpful tips.

snug32Car seats – to take or not to take on the plane?
Did you know the safest place for your little one during turbulence or an emergency is in an approved child restraint system (CRS) or device, not on your lap? The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) strongly urges parents and guardians to secure children in an appropriate restraint based on weight and size.

Your car seat will have a label underneath it with FAA approval for use on an airplane. Also, check your car seat instruction manual and contact your airline for specific rules.

What if you don’t have your vehicle while traveling this holiday? Bring an extra infant car seat base – you can use this in a taxi and in your family or friend’s vehicle.

Nap time – create a home away from home
It’s not always easy to get Baby to sleep when she’s away from home. Create a soothing place to make her feel more comfortable with a few helpful essentials. Kerry Strzelecki, product manager for Pack ‘n Plays, recommends the Graco Travel Lite™ Crib. She says, “This crib folds compactly and easily fits in your car so it’s easier to travel with and has a cozy bassinet giving Baby his own familiar space.” Staying a little longer? The Graco Bedroom Bassinet has built-in shelves for blankets, clothing and other necessities.

sweetslumberA full house can be a noisy house. Graco’s Sweet Slumber™ Sound Machine has white noise and hooks up to your MP3 player.

thermometerWhat if Baby catches a cold?
Sometimes colds come at the worst times, but better to be prepared. Mark Martinez, senior nursery & care product manager, recommends the Nasal Clear Aspirator. “It’s a must have for infants with stuffy noses!” he says. “And Graco’s 5-Second Thermometer is small for travel and is a 3-way thermometer – works for all ages and situations.”

Happy holiday traveling!

myride65In the spirit of holiday travel – today’s Graco Get One Give One is a MyRide65! The MyRide65 keeps your child rear-facing up to 40 lbs, longer than most other seats in the US. I would give this one to a friend of mine that I met on a local wedding chat board. We became great friends and now we are both expecting our 1st child within weeks of each other. For both of us and our families money is tight and having an awesome quality car seat that will grow with our child would be absolutely amazing!!! Thank you for sponsoring such a great giveaway!

I would donate to the NICU, where my little girl will immediately go after she is born next week.

I would give this to my wife’s friend who is having a baby in March 2010. They are really good people who always open their homes and hearts to anyone who needs anything, and they would feel blessed and fortunate to get such an awesome prize. They deserve it, and I hope my entry can provide this opportunity for them.

I would give this car seat to a new friend that I met online a few years ago while planning our wedding. We are now both pregnant and I know that every penny counts when saving for a child- so being able to donate the car seat would really help out!

My sister is expecting her 2nd child and could use one of these. I have twins and they will move to a convertible car seat soon and that can come in handy for me.

I would give one to my girlfriend who just had twins. It is so expensive to buy for two and I know she would appreciate it. I just got home from Toys R Us where I was looking at car seats because my 9 month old is growing out of hers. I looked at this exact one, but decided we need to wait until after Christmas because of finances.

I would donate the second my ride 65 to a battered and abused women and children facility that just opened up in my community. I could not imagine having to leave home with nothing.

My sister in law got laid off and her husband is a full time student trying to better their situation. They would greatly benefit from this carseat since it’d be one less item to worry about. This time is so stressful for them and this would be a major relief and a huge blessing. Thanks so much Graco! God bless.

I would give it to my sister in law. She just adapted a little baby and then ended up in a hospital with a major surgery

  10. Vanessa December 10, 2009 at 3:08 pm #

I would give it to a good friend of mine who has a 1 year old and is due to have another baby in February.

This giveaway is really centered on the season.
I’d keep one for my little man who is not quite 5 months old and about to outgrow his SnugRide. The other I would love to give away to my daughter’s PreK teacher for her son who is only 2 days younger than my son. I know she doesn’t get a lot of pay for her job but she does an amazing job with my daughter and it would mean a lot to her to get this kind of safety for her boy.

  12. Bridget December 10, 2009 at 3:33 pm #

I would give one to my BFF who is prego with her 2nd child. They have tried for awhile to have another child and just found out they they are expecting. She is a CNA but still going to school to get a nursing degree and her hubby is a mechanic, so they don’t have a lot of extra income, but she is a great mommy and could really use and LOVE this seat!!!

  13. Megan December 10, 2009 at 3:54 pm #

I would donate the seat to a local crisis pregnancy center in order to have them distribute it to a young, single mother in need…
