It seems like yesterday that we moved from PA to GA, then had to quickly find a doctor and a hospital to deliver my little Southern Belle. And good thing we did rush since Pinkie Pie didn’t waste any time & arrived 9 days before her due date. Pinkie Pie was ready to join the world (and I have to say I was happy to have her early too since being 9 months pregnant in Atlanta in the July heat is rough!!)
Pinke Pie’s birth story is pretty neat (well at least it is for me).
There were a few things left at work that I really wanted to get finished before I went on maternity leave, so I had been going into the office trying to wrap things up. That morning, I had gone into the office for a presentation, and I was saying that I felt like I was in labor.
Around lunchtime, I left since I had a doctor’s appointment already scheduled. They said that I was having contractions but it didn’t seem like they were concerned. Well, that night, I was emailing my friend from PA and she said that she thought she was in labor too (she was one day past her due date). Then, around 10:00 pm, she texted me and said she was heading to the hospital.
I was not far behind. Around 3:30 am, I woke up my husband and told him it was “time.”
We woke up our 3 year old and took her to the hospital in her pajamas (we don’t have family here so we had to take her with us). I labored until around 2:30 pm and have to say it really wasn’t that bad and was actually kind of peaceful this time around (there wasn’t anyone in the room so it wasn’t as chaotic). I only pushed for about 20 minutes and little Pinkie Pie was born.
Fast forward one year and Pinkie Pie is still my little bundle of joy. She is a mama’s girl and is always wants me to hold her. In fact, her first word was “mama” and she said it when I took my first trip away from her (I think she just missed me) . Pinkie Pie is very verbal and says a lot of words for a 1 year old. She is happily crawling around and even took her first step the other day. Pinkie Pie is practicing her walking–she has to to keep up with her very active big sister!
And speaking of big sister, Pinkie Pie adores her big sister. She lights up when she sees PP and laughs at all of her antics. PP is a wonderful big sister & takes good care of Pinkie Pie. She talks about the times when Pinkie Pie gets “bigger & bigger” and what they are going to do together (play dress up, have tea, have a sleepover, etc).
Pinkie Pie is so full of love and smiles! I can’t wait to watch her grow up and to experience the world with her. Happy Birthday to my sweet little lady!
