Summer Fun – Fresh Ideas to End the Season

As summer wraps up and you’re running out of new ideas for keeping the little ones busy, here are three must-do activities that guarantee outdoor fun:

Cool Treat – What says summer fun like ice cream, snow cones, and Popsicles? While baby (and mommy) may not need such sugary treats, why not stick an infant spoon into a container of baby apple sauce and freeze it to create a baby-friendly fruit pop? Even the exciting new sensation of licking an ice cube or frozen strawberry on a hot summer day can be a real treat!

Box It Up – Carry several large cardboard boxes outside (like the box for your Love ‘n Hug Swing) and open them up and tape them together to create tunnels, houses, or mazes. Baby will be fascinated by peek-a-boo windows, and toddlers will enjoy feeling adventurous exploring in their own front yard!

Watercolor(less) Painting – One of KK’s favorite activities is to use water and a paint brush to paint on our deck. We fill up a pail of water and let her pretend to paint the deck railing, patio furniture, and siding with the water. She entertains herself for hours and the deck gets washed up a bit!

With a little imagination, and a few old tricks, you and your little ones can end the summer on a high note.

I forgot about how exciting a box can be and how it can keep a child entertained for hours on end. Thanks for the applesauce fruit pop idea, I’ll be sure to try it with my niece.

Glad you enjoyed it – little yogurt containers (like yobaby and Dananino) work well too. You can just stick the spoon right in through the lid!
