Spring has sprung here in the ATL, and boy is it beautiful this year! My family is making every effort to be out and about as much as possible to enjoy every minute of it because we know what’s coming…meaning the high summer temps and soggy humidity…the infamous qualities of the south.
So while the sun shines and sweet breezes blow, I continue to explore great places to walk with a stroller. Let’s face it, little ones have so much crazy energy they sometimes don’t know what to do with it. Some days I wish I could bottle Jed’s energy and use it for myself. OK, most days, but little ones also have quite a talent from running 100 mph to exhausted in about 3.2 seconds, so it’s nice to have a place for them to rest or take a little snooze while you still continue to stroll.
Last week we decided to check out another local spot to stroll – The Chattahoochee Nature Center. What a fun place! They have a nice paved walkway that’s a leisurely stroll through the butterfly gardens and wildlife center. The center houses many types of injured birds of prey and mammals while they are nursed back to health and can be released back into the wild. Along the path there are scattered benches and tables for perfect picnic lunches or even planning a fun “green” back to nature birthday party.
If you choose to take a stroll through the “Georgia’s Living Wetlands” area, you find yourself walking on a neat boardwalk and surrounded by nature. I prefer to keep Jed strapped in the stroller vs. walking in this area. Given his
craziness curiosity level I can just picture him jumping off the side of the boardwalk into the marsh mud. That would pretty much end the relaxing stroll for Mommy. Ew.
As much as there is to do in our area, I am sure your own area also has plenty of great stroller friendly places to visit. You can click here to discover some great stroller and kid friendly places to explore on the next sunny day that comes your way. And don’t forget to pack your picnic lunch.
Everyone knows an outing is more fun when you add a picnic.
