As Lauren said, there definitely seems to be an ever growing trend of my friends jumping on the pregnant-train. With every new baby I meet, hold, play with, I start to become increasingly sensitive to the question – How do you know when you’re ready? I know the best answer to that question is “you’re never ready”. But, what I’d really like to know is – what is the tipping-point that gives you the courage to make the leap from the free-floating life of ‘just-the two-of-us’ to the increased-responsibility life of ‘us + baby’?
The hubs and I have been married for 6 years this summer – this is the time where everyone comes knocking on our door saying “So….kids in the future?”, and my answer has always been “Of course!…in a few years.” Well, I’m fairly certain those few years are now gone. And now my answer is “Of course! (internal freak-out)”.
These are the things that go through my brain…
“Oh my gosh. I’m almost 30.”
“Holy cow. My mom had 2 kids by the time she was my age.”
“What the heck happened to the last five years? And my twenties?”
“I love my job. What happens when I have kids?”
“What if we can’t afford having a baby? Wait, wait…how much does it cost?”
“What if I can’t have kids?”
Hence. The ‘internal freak-out’. So, naturally, I decide to plaster all of my issues on the company blog. Stupid? Maybe. But, then I thought of all the other women out there that might be going through the same things I am.
So throughout the next few weeks, I’m going to tackle some of the fears & questions I’ve stated above. I’ll introduce you to some of the resources I find, and hopefully you’ll share a few of yours with me as well. This should be interesting.
