School might be back in session soon, but let’s face it, it’s still HOT almost everywhere in the US.
You’ve sat in the air conditioning. You’ve been to the library and the movies too many times to count. You’ve hit the pool so many times your son’s toes look like they might be starting to become webbed… If you, like me, are looking for some other things to do to stay out the heat and still have a good time – check out these five less expected ideas below.
1. Head indoors to an ice skating rink. I don’t know about you, but I usually save ice skating for the holidays. Take a break from the summer sun, lace up your skates and take the munchkins for a few spins around the rink.
2. Make home made ice cream – WITHOUT an ice cream maker! This recipe shows you how to shake your way to super quick ice cream – perfect for the kids.
4. Give your kids a cool bath and read their usual bedtime story while they sit in the water. The time to relax and cool down will help them sleep better.
5. Star Gaze – Let the kids stay up late on a Friday or Saturday night and get outside at dark, when it’s a little cooler. Check out the stars and point out constellations – here’s a great site that lets you choose the month and time of day when you’ll be outside so you can know exactly what you’re looking for!
How are you keeping cool in all of this heat??
