Becoming a new dad

It’s time to reveal the cliffhanger, for those of you still paying attention.

I know it’s been a few weeks since my last post, but I know all you parents and parents-to-be will understand when I say baby comes first.

That’s right, our little boy has arrived. It’s been 39 days since his arrival and it’s been a roller coaster of a ride.

The delivery was flawless and yours-truly did not pass out in the delivery room. If you’re a dad-to-be or know someone who will soon experience what it is like to be a father, please tell them not to pay attention to any of the tall tales you often hear about regarding child birth. Make sure you ask the doctor to cut the umbilical cord. This was quite an experience and while I am not a doctor, I think I did a great job with my part of the process.

Fun fact #1 : Don’t tell the hospital staff that you have a ton of experience from watching Grey’s Anatomy, they won’t find it funny. I guess those TV shows aren’t realistic.

In the last few weeks, our little guy has gained over 3 pounds and grown an extra inch. He’s growing at an incredible rate and it seems every day he changes more and more.

My advice to all parents-to-be is to make sure you sleep as much as possible, spend as much time with your family as you can, and remember that no matter what comes your way, all it takes is one little smile to give you the strength you need to help you adapt to your new life as a family. It’s amazing how one little baby can have so much influence over you. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Till next time,

-DM
