Even though we don’t have much money i want my children to learn the joy’s of giving, they always give a present to each of their siblings it makes them smile to do this for their siblings and i love when they get hugs in return for their generosity!

We always had the tradition at my parent’s house of baking special chocolate chip oatmeal cookies on Christmas Eve and setting them out for Santa:) This year I’m going to continue that tradition with my 15 month old son and we have a baby girl who could be here anytime in the next 3 weeks. We are excited to start new traditions with the both of them.

  3. Mayte Lopez December 19, 2011 at 7:48 pm #

Theres 22 people in our family including nieces and.nephews.. every year each person buys a present for each family member.. just a tiny not expensive thing.. its so amazing how with $100 bucks you make christmas the best ever.. for children and adults!.. and our christmas tree looks beautiful filled with cheap but heartwarming gifts.. this is the most important christmas of them all because we have our beautiful baby boy Jaden with us our first baby.. so we’re more excited than ever to keep our tradition with a new little someone..

Every year (since I was little!) my parents and grandparents would get together and make Christmas cookies! Now that I’m married and have children, we have include them! So each year, my grandparents, parents, and my family (husband and 3 kids with another on the way!) get together and make Christmas goodie plates! We then distribute them to neighbors, family, and friends! It so great to be able to bless others!

One family tradition that I had growing up that I would like to do with my kids is every Christmas Eve we all pile in the car and go looking at Christmas lights. Listening to Christmas music and finding housing developments with lots of lights was always my favorite tradition. When we got home we would hang up stockings and leave milk and cookies.

  6. Jessica December 19, 2011 at 8:13 pm #

On Christmas Eve, my husband, daughters, and I play Christmas music and sit around and talk about things that have happened in that year, talk about ways that we have given back to others, and talk about ways that we would like to help others in the next year. We then read Christmas stories and put cookies, milk, and carrots out for Santa and his reindeer.

  7. Jill December 19, 2011 at 8:16 pm #

We have always opened presents Christmas Eve and then on Christmas we just get to lounge all day and play with out new goods! :)

Every year we get all the kids, grand kids, nieces and nephews new matching pajamas and get together for our annual Christmas Eve party.
We make lots of great memories, and take lots of great pictures!

We bake wonderful Christmas cookies and also visit a place called Santa’s Magical Kingdom. It’s a 35 acres drive threw park of amazing Christmas lights and displays. We have been going since I was a child and cant wait to bring my first baby next year : )

  11. Angela Hogan December 19, 2011 at 8:36 pm #

We are a family of 3 with a baby on the way. Each year for Christmas we make and decorate a Gingerbread house with our son and are looking forward to include our new baby in that next Christmas. We also get a new ornament each year for my son and one for us so he can take all of his ornaments as an adult to put on his own tree and we will have our’s still to put on our’s. My tree now each year is full of his ornaments and mine from when I was growing up and got ornaments each year so that each ornament on our tree has a special meaning. I hope our kids carry on this tradition.

We have several favorite traditions – decorating our tree with Christmas music playing and yummy food to snack on; setting out the Nativity scene; attending a candelight service at our church on Christmas Eve; baking cookies and making candy; reading “The NIght Before Christmas” at bedtime on Christmas Eve.

  14. Megan Johnson December 19, 2011 at 8:43 pm #

Our family christmas tradition is to cook christmas cookies together as a family. We also, like to play board games, and cards throughout the day after enjoying church, wonderful food, and gifts.

  15. Bonnie Carbone December 19, 2011 at 8:48 pm #

Our family comes over on Christmas morning for a huge breakfast. That is of course after the kids have all opened their presents. Then we watch a good funny holiday movie like Elf or planes trains and automobiles.

  16. Christina Johnson December 19, 2011 at 8:49 pm #

On Christmas Eve we open up gifts and on Christmas Day we do the stockings and breakfast.

  17. Joy Suh December 19, 2011 at 9:01 pm #

Each year my mom would take the kids to pick out a christmas ornament for each of us. She would label it with our name and the year. Then when we moved out of the house she would package each of our christmas ornaments to send with us. This way our first christmas tree wouldn’t be bare or we would have to go out and buy a lot of ornaments. I look forward to doing that with my daughter who is due anytime now.

  18. Jolaina wicks December 19, 2011 at 9:06 pm #

Every year, on Christmas eve, the children open one present and then we all snuggle into one big bed and daddy reads the night before Christmas! We’ve been reading the same book that my dad read to me when I was a small child. It’s become a tradition passed from one generation to the next, to the next.

  19. Emily Copeland December 19, 2011 at 9:22 pm #

We always hang a pickle on our tree- my daughter looks forward to it every year!

  20. Emily Copeland December 19, 2011 at 9:24 pm #

We always put a pickle on our tree as the last ornament hung. I have done it with my family since I was a kid and now I do it with my children- they always look forward to it!

  21. Belkis Nunez December 19, 2011 at 9:25 pm #

Our family tradition is to open one gift christmas eve. I remember doing it as a child and now I do it with my children.

  22. Pauline December 19, 2011 at 9:48 pm #

We always make a homemade ornament with our daughter. I cant wait to look back on them all when she is older!

  23. Jessica Parks Wiese December 19, 2011 at 9:54 pm #

Our holiday tradition is nothing too elaborate. When I was little we always had cruller donuts for breakfast with chocolate milk for our Christmas breakfast, but my siblings and I had dubbed them “tractor tires” because of how they looked. So, every year we would remind my mom to get “tractor tires”. I now buy the same for our Christmas morning breakfast. It definitely isn’t an big fancy breakfast, but it has special meaning behind it, and definitely brings back good memories!

  24. betty andrews December 19, 2011 at 10:42 pm #

A family tradition I passed on from my mom to my daughter, is on Christmas eve you get to open one Christmas present. She just had her first daughter I’m hoping the tradition will continue when her little one is old enough to play along.

  25. Christine December 19, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

I’m going to make an ornament with my son every year…this is his first Christmas. I did a casting of his hand and tied a ribbon to hang it on the tree!

  26. Anne December 19, 2011 at 11:07 pm #

We go to my dad’s house Christmas morning (or Christmas Eve morning years Christmas is a Sunday) and have brunch- ham, kugelis (Lithuanian potato pudding- a savory dish, similar to a kugel, but made with bacon and served with bacon and sour cream), fruit, eggs, vegetables… Then we open presents together sitting around the tree (which is the one his parents had when he was a kid- a vintage 50s silver foil tree, with a color wheel!) The Sunday closest to Christmas, and for Christmas dinner with my mom, my girls wear their Christmas dresses- always matching, and they are always gorgeous in them.

  27. Elizabeth December 19, 2011 at 11:22 pm #

We live near a street where every house (all 18 of them) are lit up to a synchronized light show. We go see it every year and marvel at the awesome-ness of so many lighted homes.

  28. Angela December 19, 2011 at 11:46 pm #

We have several traditions we celebrate every year. One is making sandbakkels, a Norwegian Christmas cookie, to hand out to friends and family, and a few for ourselves of course. We’re trying to instill our strong Norwegian background into our son. Our son also gets to spend Christmas eve night with Grandma and Grandpa making cookies for Santa. He loves spending this time with his grandparents and we like that he has that connection to them since they live so far away and we don’t see them much. We have several others also that we plan to also share with our soon to come new baby girl in April.

  29. sara tolliver December 19, 2011 at 11:47 pm #

Every year me and my daughters spend Christmas morning with my Mom making/eating yummy snacks and opening gifts. The rest of the day we just relax while the kids play with their new things. Sadly, we won’t be spending this year with my Mom as airfare is just too expensive.

  30. Christina P December 20, 2011 at 12:19 am #

I bake cookies to give to my friends and family. I try to make at least one new cookie I have never made each year. This year I am trying out snickerdoodles :)

  31. Christina Galvan December 20, 2011 at 1:07 am #

The day before Christmas Eve (December 23rd) my entire family gets together at my aunts house to make homemade tamales for Christmas. We used to gather at my grandma’s house, but once she passed away, we started getting together at my aunts house. We all wear Christmas aprons and Santa hats and we have the Christmas music blasting in the background. Making tamales is a LOT of work, especially when we make a good 50 dozens or so (we have a HUGE family), but the great conversations and laughter we share, makes the time go by so fast. It’s a wonderful tradition that started with my grandmother and my aunts and now all the grandkids have continued with it. :)

  32. Staci A December 20, 2011 at 1:39 am #

One of our favorite traditions is the secret elf that visits for the 12 days of Christmas. Each night he leaves a book or craft for us to do together the next day. My son’s always so excited to see what he’ll leave next!

  33. Brandee H December 20, 2011 at 2:11 am #

My daughter, Annabel and I collect change all year long in big jars, and come christmas time we drive around to all of the stores we can, and she loves putting all the change in the red kettles for Salvation Army. Its a not a huge contribution, but its what we can do, and we love it.

  34. Jolene Johnson December 20, 2011 at 2:17 am #

We always drive around at least one night looking at Christmas lights! While listening to Christmas music, of course. I did this with my parents for years and cannot wait to do it with my family! Next year :)

on the night of December 5th my family leaves their shoes out for st nicks day and if you get goodies in your shoes that means you have been good and need to keep up the good work and if you get nothing or coal that means you have been naughty and you better straighten up or you wont get anything for Christmas from Santa that one of my favorite traditions that my family does!!!!!!

  37. Denise Shelton December 20, 2011 at 2:53 am #

One of my favorite family traditions is havingy entire family our home on
Christmas morning around 9 am. We start the morning with breakfast I have prepared for everyone. Then we all gather to exchange gifts. It is truly s blessing to have all 5 of our children & all 12 of our grandchildren under the same roof. Our newest grandchild will be welcomed in this world in July, 2012. This would make a wonderful gift!

Christmas is one of our favorite times of year. Having the chance to see family and celebrate the birth of Jesus is what makes this time of year so special to us. One tradition both my husband and I grew up doing (and have continued to do with our kids) was always spending Christmas Eve celebrating the birth of Jesus by attending our church Christmas Eve service. This is such a special and meaningful time to reflect on the real reason for the season and it has become a tradition with our family that will last a lifetime. Merry Christmas to All!

  42. Irene Gonzales December 20, 2011 at 3:51 am #

Our favorite family tradition is watching all the classic Christmas movies!!! We try to watch all of them throughout the entire month of December. And on Christmas Eve we save the best for last, the hilarious movie, Christmas Vacation!!! It gets everyone laughing!!!!

  43. Jo Rourke December 20, 2011 at 4:30 am #

Every year my family & I go to the Desert Botanical Gardens to see the luminaries. It is really neat to see my son dance to all the different bands that they have there. This year he didn’t have to be in the stroller either & he loved being able to walk with everyone.

  44. rachel hull December 20, 2011 at 4:57 am #

Our favorite family tradition is to make cookies on Christmas Eve to leave out for Santa. Plus, carrots to leave out for the reindeer. Christmas Eve is all about baking, staying in, and having family time!

every christmas eve we drink hot chocolate and read “twas the night before christmas” my mom recorded herself reading this book before she passed away so it is extra special!

  46. Carrie December 20, 2011 at 6:35 am #

Our biggest family tradition is on Christmas Eve my family gets together and has a huge dinner and family time. We have done this for as long as I can remember and longer. This year we will be without two of our family members due to death. But we will be celebrating a first Christmas with my daughter and my cousin will be having their baby in March. I love this tradition to no end! I hope I can win this package and separate it and give it to different people!!!

Every year we travel up the mountains to play in the snow and find our family Christmas tree. This year we started the tradition of giving gifts away to our local Toys for Tots. Both my 2 and 4 year old really enjoyed it!

In our family there are 5 kids including myself and so far 4 grand kids. I am currently pregnant with the 5th. Our family loves to laugh together, so of there is any tradition i can possibly think of it is sitting around telling stories and laughing with and sometimes at each other. The one story that comes to my mind that never goes unheard during Christmas, is me when I was young coming down the stairs wearing the Christmas tree skirt singing my original song “Christmas is coming”. And I can guarantee if u ask any of my family… They can recite the amazing lyrics!! Good times and good memories!!

  49. Nikki Moore December 20, 2011 at 3:10 pm #

Our favorite tradition is driving around to look at the lights. Our toddler loves it!
