Jon DeHart

JonName: Jon DeHart

Position at Graco: I’m usually found in a seated position

How long at Graco: I’ve been here since 7:30 a.m. this morning

My favorite kids: My one and only offspring, the heir O’parent - “Gus”

Latest “wonderous” moment: Gus is much thinner than anyone else in the family, kind of like the mailman…hmmmm…..I wonder…..

My child’s most memorable first: Gus’ most memorable first public tantrum was in a crowded department store during the height of Christmas shopping season. When he didn’t get what he wanted and we were on our way out the door, he threw himself to the floor shouting “I’M NOT YOUR BOY!….I’M NOT YOUR BOY!” As I was trying to drag him from the store, even the most frenzied shoppers stopped and took notice. Some stared, some sympathetically snickered, and I had a lovely chat with the Security Guard. His name was Bob. Gus was returned to us the same day.

You just have to know this about me: I’m actually a natural blond! Or at least I used to be.

If I had my 15 minutes of fame it would be because: I actually walk to the corner and wait for the walk sign to light before crossing the street. (I still remember the spanking I got when I was young, due to an ill-conceived street crossing incident)

If someone said “Go to your Happy Place,” where would you go?: I’d probably go sit in the bleachers of a little league baseball game on a cool crisp Spring day, soak up the sun and fresh air and every now and then jump up and shout “Stop picking the dandelions, Gus and watch the ball!”

Favorite children’s book: My favorite children’s book is One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss. It’s the first book my son ever read by himself. Gus was on my lap for our nightly book reading. We were sitting in the beige recliner next to a swing-arm floor lamp and he dove into “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” all on his own – it was absolutely marvelous – the best book ever!
